Today: two side events at COP21

The side events aim to further disseminate the outcomes of our international Conference on methane and to continue the discussions to widen awareness of decision makers and civil society about the importance of an action on methane for climate.

Side event no. 1: in the official restricted area at Paris-Le Bourget, on December 8, from 13:15 to 14:45 in room 8, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State and the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA).

Side event no. 1 -> in the official area, Blue Zone

Side event no. 2 -> in the climate Generations areas

This side event no. 1 aim to further disseminate the outcomes of our international Conference on methane and to continue the discussions to widen awareness of decision makers about the importance of an action on methane for climate.

Two side-events at COP21

The two side-events aim to present the outcomes of the preparatory international Conference “Mitigating methane emissions: from science to innovative solutions” and to continue the discussions at COP21 to raise climate negotiators, delegates and civil society actors' awareness of this underestimated subject. Side event no. 1 - Blue Zone*

Intended for decision makers and negotiators - co-hosted by the Veolia Institute, the U.S. Department of State and the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA)

  • From 13:15 to 14:45 on December 8
  • In room 8 in the official restricted area at Le Bourget

*official area, accessible to people with accreditation only

The contribution of the Veolia Institute to (and its presence in) the site of negotiations was made possible by its official recognition as "Observer NGO"by UN climate organization UNFCCC

Side event no. 2 - Climate Generations areas

Intended for civil society actors - organized by the Veolia Institute in association with the Agence française de Développement and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation

  • From 15:15 to 16:45 on December 8
  • In room 10 in the climate Generations areas at Le Bourget
  • Accessible to all (without prior registration)

Participants will exchange scientific knowledge, explore available mitigation options for the waste sector and discuss economic and financial mechanisms that would facilitate the development of these solutions for meeting the climate challenge.
